FRANCISCO JAVIER PEÑAS es licenciado en Filosofía y Letras por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Máster de Relaciones Internacional por el Instituto Universitario Ortega y Gasset y Doctor en Ciencia Política por la UAM. Ha sido co-fundador y director del Grupo de Estudios Africanos (GEA) y actualmente Coordinador del programa de doctorado de Relaciones Internacionales y Estudios Africanos. Es miembro del comité de redacción de la Revista Electrónica de Relaciones Internacionales (www.relacionesinternacionales.info). Sus últimas publicaciones se centran en la Teoría de las Relaciones Internacionales y Teoría Política Internacional. En la actualidad está trabajando sobre la Sociología Histórica del Sistema Internacional y sobre una reevaluación del pensamiento realista clásico a la luz de las nuevas tendencias constructivistas.

He has a degree in Humanities by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, an MA. on International Relations by the Instituto Universitario Ortega y Gasset and a PhD. on Political Science by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He has been co-founder and director of the Africa Study Group (GEA). At present he is the Coordinator of the PhD program on International Relations and African Studies. He is member of the editorial board of the Revista Electrónica de Relaciones Internacionales (www.relacionesinternacionales.info). His latest publications deal with the Theory of International Relations and International Political Theory. His current work is about the Historical Sociology of the International System and the reappraisal of Classical Realistic thought from the point of view of the new constructivist tendencies in International Relations.
